Avril Lavigne

It seems almost impossible to believe, but the brilliant, fun-loving pop singer Avril Lavigne is now an established mother of two. The Canadian-born performer and songwriter famously rose to fame in the mid-2000s thanks to her string of solo albums and world tour which helped establish her as an international superstar. She is now devoted to her family and spends most of her time caring for her kids (son Finnegan and daughter Matilda) as well as their dog and three cats.

Although Lavigne now has a family, she has not lost her drive for creativity and has continued to work hard on new music which she hopes to release soon. The singer has been quoted as saying “I’ve always done what I wanted to do, when I wanted to do it, and for the most part, people have been really supportive. Sometimes it hasn’t been easy, but at the same time, I couldn’t have asked for a better life,” and “I want to be there for my kids to see them grow up and be able to teach them to be strong and independent. There is no other option but music for me”.

Baby Steps

It was back in 2015 when we first heard of Lavigne’s son Finnegan arriving third trimester and she had already begun to show signs of being a mother of two. The singer had made a series of sweet baby announcements on social media and even got engaged to Daxxer Osbourne, the son of legendary rocker Ozzy Osbourne, in a glamorous ceremony in Santa Monica, California in October of that year. Since then, she has become a devoted mother to Finnegan and Matilda and her love and pride for the little boy and girl is clear to see.

Osbourne is also an extremely supportive husband and hasn’t shied away from showing off his new wife and kids on social media. The lovebirds even got matching tattoos of their family’s name on their matching arms last year.

Finnegan And Matilda’s Education

It was announced in April that Lavigne had signed a record-breaking USD 125 million contract with Sony Music that will see her star on The Biggest Loser, which is soon to be released. The deal will also see the “Famous” hitmaker write and produce her entire album for the company. The album will be Lavigne’s third with Sony and it will be released later this year.

The singer’s daughter Matilda will also be featured on the album and she has big plans for her studies. The ten-year-old, who was born with type 1 diabetes, is currently studying at the prestigious Aiglon College in Switzerland and hopes to become a doctor one day. She is determined to make her diabetes “uncomplicated” and has followed in her mother’s footsteps by writing and performing her own songs.

A New Chapter

Now, with her children’s education ahead of her, Lavigne can look forward to a new chapter in her life. While her career took off when she was at the height of her motherhood, it seems she may now be preparing to settle down. In an interview with Wonderland magazine, she said “I’ve always done what I wanted to do, when I wanted to do it, and for the most part, people have been really supportive. Sometimes it hasn’t been easy, but at the same time, I couldn’t have asked for a better life,” and “I want to be there for my kids to see them grow up and be able to teach them to be strong and independent. There is no other option but music for me”.
