The youngest of three children, Fox was born in New York City on April 2, 1992. She began her career at the age of 3, appearing in commercials and on-screen roles in films such as Coyote Ugly and Elizabethtown. In 2001, Fox made her film debut in the comedy Spy Kids and became a regular in the franchise. While growing up, Fox attended the Beacon School, an all-girls school in New York City. She then went on to study economics at Harvard University, where she was both a member of the varsity tennis team and a student activist. It was at Harvard that she joined the Hasty Pudding Club, an elite society dedicated to producing and performing comedy. Fox quickly established herself as a rising star in Hollywood. She appeared in several notable films in the early 2000s, including the science-fiction drama Water (2002), the romantic comedy film About a Boy (2003), and the crime thriller House on Haunted Hill (2004).
