I have a confession to make. For as long as I can remember, I have always dreamed of living in Italy. The sounds, the smells, the colours – everything about the culture and the country has always held a dream attraction for me.

So when I finally got the chance to make my dream a reality, my first impression when arriving in Italy was that of beauty. The buildings looked magnificent and I felt an instant connection with the culture. Then I remembered the nightmare that is travelling abroad and experiencing a language barrier. I quickly started researching online how to overcome this hurdle, and one particular web page kept popping up. It told me that the best way to learn Italian was through a program called Living Language – and that I should enrol myself immediately!

I did some research, and the more I learned about Living Language, the more I liked it. The more I learned about Italian culture, the more I wanted to live there. So I decided to give it a try and see what would come of it.

Living Language is a fully immersive, multi-award-winning language learning experience that brings the beauty and charm of Italian culture to your fingertips. From the very first lesson, you will feel inspired and excited to learn Italian. As a student of Living Language, you will learn Italian through immersive video courses, oral practice, and practical activities. The courses are designed to be accessible to absolute beginners, and become more difficult as you advance.

With Living Language, you will learn Italian as if you were a local! You will be accompanied by a local teacher who will introduce you to the Italian language and culture, and help you to build a solid foundation. What’s more is that you will have the chance to practice what you learn in a supportive and encouraging environment. The teacher to pupil ratio is 1:5 and each student will have access to a full-time English-speaking teacher via webcam. This makes it much easier to learn in a foreign country.

Why Italy?

Let’s be honest, living in Italy is a dream come true for any student of architecture, fashion, or art history. There are so many famous historical figures from these fields that you can study in greater detail. In fact, you can start your own historical study, as there are thousands of years of fascinating stories to discover.

In addition, if you are a foodie like me, you will have an opportunity to explore the greatest restaurants from around the world. One of the greatest things about this program is that you will get to do all of this while living life like a local – even getting a taste of Italian food daily!

The Cost of Living in Italy

The cost of living in Italy is pretty high compared to other countries, mostly because of the purchasing power of the Italian currency. One kg of beef will cost you around £30, a decent bottle of wine could set you back £15 – £20, and a coffee costs £1.50. All of these are inexpensive compared to the UK and US, where a kg of beef will set you back £62.50 and a bottle of wine could cost you £12.

In addition, while you are there, you should look into renting a property that will allow you to live a life like a local. Instead of paying high rental prices in expensive central London, you could live in a small town near the coast and enjoy a low cost of living. This will make a huge difference to your bottom line.

Summary

Overall, if you are looking to further your education abroad, or just want to live in a country that is rich in culture and history, then Italy is the place to be. One of the best things about this country is that even the most humble people will treat you with hospitality and make your stay unforgettable. Just don’t forget about the health warning – because you will definitely want to visit the places where the sun shines, you will have to make sure that you are protected from the rays that can cause cancer. For those who want to study in Italy, the country is currently experiencing an educational phase, so it’s a great opportunity to study and get a job there. With a little planning, you could live the high life in a big city like Florence or Venice, or even in an Italian villa with a pool!
