Jeanette Biedermann

Hello and welcome to my website! I hope you enjoy reading my blog as much as I enjoy writing it. My articles are generally focused on beauty, fashion and lifestyle, but you will also find some family and parenting content. There’s something here for everyone, so I hope you stay a while and become a regular reader.

Why Blogging?

Blogging was a fantastic choice for me as it combines my passion for beauty and fashion with my love of writing. I enjoy getting my thoughts and opinions out there and connecting with others who share the same interests. Plus, as a blogger, I get to express myself creatively through words and images.

I chose a platform that allowed for quick and easy blogging, as I want to keep this platform as my main source of income as a freelance writer, and I knew that my blog would be an area of focus for my readers, which could potentially be monetised. I researched a variety of blogging platforms and decided to go with WordPress as it seems to be the most popular and versatile option.

How To Blog Effectively

I can’t stress enough how important it is to establish and focus on building a small community around your blog. Readers love to be part of something bigger than themselves, and the feeling is mutual!

I started my blog with no real ideas of what I was doing, and I quickly realised that I needed to find my audience. So, I used social media to connect with people who shared my interests and passions. I started a Twitter account and started using the #selfybeauty and #styleonselfyeats hashtags to watch and engage with others who were sharing content related to my blog. My Instagram account grew organically as well, and I started using the #styleonselfyeats and #selfybeauty tags to feature my own photos and those of other bloggers and influencers whose work I admire.

Now, two years later, I have over 60,000 monthly readers (as of this year) and over 175,000 Instagram followers. I try to get at least one blog post a week, and on average, I manage to get published 2.5–3 times a week. I think this is due largely in part to my schedule which involves a lot of public speaking engagements and TV appearances. But I also find that the more I write, the more ideas I have, and the more I can write about!

The Future Of Blogging

It’s important to me that my blog continues to grow and develop, and I want to continue providing value to my readers. As a result, I am constantly looking for ways to improve the content I’ve published and to grow my community. One way I’ve found to do this is via podcasting. I interviewed some fantastic guests who continue to inspire me and I’m looking to add more content like this. Podcasts are incredibly valuable as they allow for longer, in-depth conversations with my favourite guests. This can lead to richer content that is even more enjoyable to my audience. I also regularly host giveaway contests, which is another way I engage with my audience and provide value. These contests are generally related to my guest’s expertise, and they lead to some amazing interactions with my readers.

One thing I want to continue doing is experimenting with different formats for my blog posts. In addition to my weekly blog posts, I also provide information in video format via my YouTube channel. This has allowed me to develop different content for different platforms, and I want to continue to do this as it provides me with additional monetisation opportunities. For example, I’ve started a clothing collection that focuses on the 1960s and I wanted to showcase my collection in video format, so I used Instagram to showcase my latest looks and experiments with the #StyleOnSelfY ears and #SelfYBeauty hashtags. These videos have led to some really exciting collaborations that have subsequently led to more blog posts, Instagram stories and even some YouTube videos. So, if you have a small or large online community, I would recommend looking into podcasting, clothing collection or interior product reviews as a way to engage with your audience and provide value.

I’d like to thank you for taking the time to read this, and I hope my article has provided some value.
