Dita Von, also known as Dita Von Teese, was born in 1926 in Vienna, Austria. In 1953, she appeared in the Broadway production of The King and I. She also released a single, “Bewitched,” which was a hit in the US and Germany. That same year, she was featured on the cover of Harper’s Bazaar along with Ingrid Bergman and Grace Kelly. In 1958, she was featured on the cover of Life again along with Ingrid Bergman and Marjorie Merriweather Post, this time for their charity work at the Cannes Film Festival. In 1960, she appeared in the film adaptation of The Threepenny Opera. In 1961, she began appearing in movies starring Elizabeth Taylor, including Suddenly, It’s Twenty-Five, where she played Taylor’s sister, and Splendor in the Grass, where she played Daisy Miller.
